Description

A delicious and vibrant Red Velvet Cake perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons purple food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar.
  4. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until well combined.
  5. Divide batter evenly between cake pans and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Frost with cream cheese frosting and enjoy!

Notes

  • This cake pairs well with cream cheese frosting.
  • Make sure to let the cakes cool completely before frosting to avoid melting the frosting.
