Ingredients
Scale
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
- 2 cups cottage cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions, then drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned; drain excess fat. Stir in marinara sauce, dried basil, salt, and pepper, then simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, combine cottage cheese, egg, chopped parsley, and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Mix until well blended.
- Spread 1/2 cup meat sauce at the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Layer 4 noodles, half the cottage cheese mixture, a third of the mozzarella, and a third of the meat sauce. Repeat layers once.
- Top with remaining noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, until cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use a mix of cheeses.
- This dish can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
- Letting the lasagna rest allows it to set and is easier to cut.
