- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or melting chocolate
- 20 chocolate candy melts or small round chocolate candies
- 40 mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth and fully combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until a soft dough forms.
- Cover the dough and chill it for 30 minutes so it is easier to shape.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop the dough into 20 larger balls for the bear heads and use small pinches of dough to form two ears on each cookie.
- Arrange the shaped cookies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly set and just barely golden.
- Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Melt the chocolate chips or melting chocolate until smooth.
